An Australian friend recommended MELT to me and I was very lucky to discover Julie was running a workshop close to home the following weekend . Daily living creates stress and tension within your body. Physical 'stressors' may range from sitting at a desk to running a marathon. Emotional, mental and environmental 'stressors' also put strain on your body.
The repetitive stress of daily living literally gets stuck in the connective tissue, which surrounds every joint, muscle, nerve, bone and organ. 'Stuck Stress' accumulates and causes dehydration in the connective tissue, which interferes with the nervous system’s ability to regular itself and slows down the body's natural healing process.

As a gymnast from an early age, I have always been interested in health and fitness and turned to Pilates as a way of maintaining a toned body and helping me achieve a greater awareness of my body.
Following a total hip replacement, I was left with chronic back and hip pain due to the new hip leaving me with a significant leg length discrepancy. Weekly Pilates and physiotherapy, together with prescription pain medication helped me to keep moving, although the pain never left me. Then I was introduced to the MELT Method© at my local Pilates studio and I was intrigued how this hands-off method could relieve the pain I'd had for over 3 years; I really could not believe the difference doing these techniques made to my chronic pain. As a self confessed sceptic, I wanted to know more, the science, and how it worked.
I therefore undertook the MELT Hand & Foot training in New York, with the inspiring Sue Hitzmann MS, CST, NMT and it all started to make sense. At the training Sue explained in detail how the connective tissue system works and the effect that it has on the body and, most importantly, how the MELT techniques can reduce chronic pain and help you to stay healthy, youthful and active for a lifetime. During the training, after a MELT session with Sue, I experienced my first full pain-free day in over three years, I was convinced!
Since then I have gone on to train in the use of the soft roller and can offer full MELT Method sessions. I am trained in advanced MELT Level 2 and run both improver and advanced MELT classes.
I am still doing my regular Pilates but have completely stopped all pain medication and only visit my physio to say hi!

This is a great series for anyone who has already attended the MELT Introductory Workshop or wishes to improve their MELT technique.

Either here or in your own home, I can teach you to the MELT techniques specifically for your needs, whether it be for chronic pain, to enhance your tennis or golf, or to help with those general aches and pains. Each session will last an hour and will be tailored to your specific needs. If you have a specific injury or illness, this is for you.
